One in 68 children today are identified with Autism Spectrum Disorder. When Matthew Denman was identified in the 1980s, however, the chances were only one in 10,000. The causes behind this rapid increase in the number of identified individuals are still hotly debated, but the reality for Matthew and his mother Susan was a world in which the medical community had few answers and the general public was even less well-informed.
